About

My name is Valeriia Pogliani. I was born in Ukraine and now live in Milan. I’ve never studied painting professionally and came to it almost by accident, but it quickly became one of my greatest passions. For me, painting is a way to express emotions I can’t put into words. I try to paint my feelings, letting colors and forms speak for me. I mostly work with acrylics and watercolor, depending on the mood and moment. Each piece is instinctive, personal, and honest—like a visual diary. With a background in languages and interpretation, I’ve spent much of my life translating the thoughts of others. Through painting, I finally found a way to translate myself.

My work is rooted in emotion as both subject and material. I create to translate feelings that resist ordinary language, transforming vulnerability, tension, longing, and quiet joy into visual form. Each piece becomes a space where inner experiences can exist outside the body, suspended, examined, and shared. I am drawn to the in-between states the moments of uncertainty, healing, and becoming. Through texture, contrast, and layered forms, I explore how emotions overlap and echo, how they leave traces, and how they shape identity. My practice is an act of release and reflection, inviting viewers to recognize fragments of their own stories within mine.

About Art
  • Water Under the Bridge This painting portrays a woman caught between memory and moving on. The dominant blue reflects her melancholy and search for peace, while the man clinging to her eye symbolizes a memory that won’t let go. Fluid, cool lines surround her like a sea, gradually releasing her—illustrating the delicate process of coexisting with the past without being held back.
