Art is not only a passion, it gives me peace, harmony, is a creative outlet of expression!

About

I’m a self taught artist, photographer and native Californian. After graduating from high school, I received my license in hairstyling. Creating hairstyles that shaped and framed clients faces and surprising clients with unique hairstyles and hair colors was a fulfilling career. After retiring from hairstyling, I went back to school and worked for many years in the technology software field. Missing a creative outlet in work I started a landscape design company. This certainly was one of my favorite of businesses. To create a landscape design for clients was not only fun, it was a different form of art. After 15 years of landscape design, I retired to focus fulltime on art. I take inspiration from architecture, nature, landscapes or just by feel. I work with an array of mixed media acrylic, encaustic, oil, and plaster. Most of my artwork is first sketched either by hand or digitally, then transferred to canvas. I especially love painting on wood.

My work is rooted in abstraction, drawn to dynamic yet balanced compositions that hover between structure and dissolution. I explore textured surfaces that float and blur, creating shallow spaces where soft, ethereal patches of color emerge against dark, grounding backgrounds. These contrasts allow forms to feel suspended—present, yet elusive. Process is central to my practice. I experiment intuitively with materials, allowing the surface to guide each piece. At times I scrape back layers to reveal what lies beneath; at others, I build them up slowly, embracing density and resistance. This push and pull between subtraction and accumulation mirrors my interest in tension—between control and spontaneity, clarity and obscurity. Through texture, muted luminosity, and shifting spatial relationships, my work invites quiet contemplation. Rather than fixed narratives, I aim to create atmospheric spaces where viewers can pause, sense movement, and find their own emotional resonance within the surface.

About Art
  • I paint artwork organically and first sketch by pencil or digitally on my iPad, then transfer it on canvas using whatever medium I choose such as oil, plaster, encaustic or acrylic. Most of these paintings, except for the digital colorful work can be be painted on canvas or printed on acrylic; were all sketched, then painted. Each project takes me a week or two to complete.
