Wherever I am is my favorite place.
I am a photographic artist and poet with a musical bent who lives at the edge of the Pacific Ocean and work with a camera to capture imagery to incorporate into my projects. I wander to discover something that catches or pleases my eye. I’ve explored 230+ countries/territories, embracing the exotic and unexpected. When asked, “My favorite place is wherever I am on the planet.” I’ve always been an artist. I was given a camera and crayons at 3 and exposed, enchanted and inspired by California motifs: light, trees, the ocean, music and vernacular architecture that defined and influence my left-handed aesthetic. I was influenced by my dad’s photographic hobby and my mother’s thirst for knowledge and travel. I have a master’s degree in art and a career in design and architecture. Nature in all its glory captivates me; I take inspiration from the ancient world to the moderns - from the Assyrians to Vermeer to Matisse to Atget to Cindy Sherman. I think we’re born knowing who we are and from an early age know what we are to do. I knew I was a creative. I started drawing floor plans (inspired by LAT Home Section), portraits and taking photos when I got my first camera as a kid. I am an “informavore” who feds on information with thoughts erupting like volcanoes in my head in word or image form. I scout the world for images as they present themselves to me - seeking light, shape, line, shadow, color or something unique. I worked in traditional art-related jobs of architecture and design until mid-forties when I left to devote myself to travel, photography and exhibitions.

I photograph realistic images but enjoy abstracting from the natural world and/or creating abstract images. The images here were naturally photographed through the lens with the intent of being abstract. I want to share my vision with the world.
